Mr. Dunderbaks, Biergarten & Marketplace since 1974 has moved
to a new and bigger location with over 50 draught and cask beers
USF's only German-American Beer bar and restaurant is now located at the Oak Ramble Shopping center. Our address is 14929 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. Tampa Fl. 33613.
For the past 35 years we have always been more than a great beerbar. We are a European Biergarden with a unique German inspired menu. Not a club scene, not a trendy bar, but a place for family and friends to get together, chat and have some quality time together.
We do, however have a few rules to follow, nothing difficult, but we want to let you know we take BEER seriously. We hope after a visit or two you will understand why! So please give us a try! Bring the whole family, but after 10:00 pm we ask that everyone is over 21.
Due to the high demand on seating, we unfortunately will not take reservations.
We now have live music, both German and American on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. We also feature Cigar City DJs once a month.
We have over 50 draft beers and hundreds of bottles, a surger and Beer Engine. Not to mention we sell package. All package beer is disounted 15% at the register. The price marked is for in-house consumption.
We will be closed the 1st Tuesday of each month, every month for the TAMPA BAY BEERS homebrew club meeting. We close at 6:00 P.M.
Tired of Sports bars, with loud people, bad beer, shitty food? Then come watch the game at Dunderbaks on the big TV. Just like being at home, except for the chef and fifty beers on draft.
Tuesday night is open mic from 7:30 on !
Thursday night is classic rock night. Live music, no not German Musik.

The Gose is gone!
Leipziger Gose actually originated in the small town of Goslar {state of Lower Saxony , Germany}. Leipziger Gose was already first mentioned around 1000 AD under Emperor Otto III. Like many other beerstyles {such as English Imperial Stouts and German Bock biers} the Goslar breweries of Leipziger Gose had to look elsewhere for a bigger market. They found those in the trade towns of Halle and Leipzig, about 100 miles East, where Leipziger Gose appeared around 1738 for the first time. By 1900 Leipzig boasted over 80 Gose houses.
The spread of the bottom-fermenting pilsner style as well as economic decline of East Germany under communist regime contributed to the demise of the Leipziger Gose which was last brewed in the mid 1960s.
On July 20, 2000 Thomas Schneider {no relations to the Schneider Wheatbeer brewery in Kelheim, Germany} revived the brewing of the Original Leipziger Gose in the famous “Bayerische Bahnhof” in Leipzig.
Leipziger Gose is a top-fermenting wheat beer {60% wheat, 40% barley malt} with coriander, salt, and lactic acid bacteria added in the boil. It is a 4.5% alc/vol eclectic beer whose name evokes a close relationship to the renowned Lambic/Geuze breweries in the Valley Senne nearby Brussels, Belgium.
Homebrew club meeting Tuesday 5th at 7:00
Crazy new beers on draft
Johan Brandt , with a passion for excellent good beer, started this tiny artisanal brewery end of 1995. In the beginning he brewed only once a week with a capacity of 120 liters (1 barrel). By 1999 he started brewing twice a week with an increased capacity of 160 liters (1.5 barrels), meaning non stop brewing, bottling, washing bottles throughout the year. He is now looking for a bigger brewery where he can brew 700 liters (6 barrels) at a time and fill the bottles automatically.
Johan Brandt, also a bee-keeper, started out with only one type of beer, a honey beer called 't Smisje. He now produces 6 permanent beers.
